Seabirds — Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 24, 2026
Seabirds (the "App") is a brand of Seabatt Digital LLC ("we", "us"). This policy describes what data the App processes, why, and your rights regarding that data.
One-sentence summary: Everything stays on your phone. We don't operate any servers, we don't track you, and we don't share data with anyone.
1. Information we process
The App processes the following data on your device only, in order to function:
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Camera frames | Real-time bird-flock detection. Frames are passed through an on-device ML model. | Discarded immediately after each frame. Never written to disk, never uploaded. |
| Precise GPS location | Project the heading + range of a sighted flock to absolute lat/long for export. | Stored in the App's local SwiftData database when you tap Save. Never uploaded. |
| Compass / device heading | Same as above. | Same as above. |
| Device motion (accelerometer / gyroscope) | Compensate for the captain panning the phone, so dive-detection isn't fooled. | Used in real time only. Not persisted. |
| Saved waypoints | Power the History tab and GPX export. | Stored locally in the App's SwiftData store. Removed when you delete the App or clear the list. |
The App does not access: Photos, Contacts, Microphone, Health, HomeKit, Bluetooth, or any other system data.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, see, or have any record of:
- Your identity, email address, phone number, or device ID
- Your location, ever (it never leaves your phone)
- Crash reports, analytics, or telemetry
- Photos or video
- App-usage statistics
- Advertising identifiers (we run no ads)
- Any data linkable to you in any way
We do not operate any backend, third-party SDK, analytics provider, advertising network, or remote logging service.
3. Network use
The App opens no outbound connections. It works fully offline. The first time the App launches, iOS itself may make standard system network calls (e.g. to validate the App Store receipt or a privacy manifest); these are made by the operating system, not by us, and we receive nothing.
4. Sharing
When you tap Send to GPS, the App generates a GPX file and hands it to the iOS share sheet. From there, you choose where it goes — AirDrop, Garmin Connect, Files, Messages, etc. We are not part of that flow and never see the GPX content.
5. Your rights
Because no personal data ever leaves your device:
- Access: Open the History tab. That's the entire dataset.
- Deletion: Delete an entry by swiping it. Delete the App to wipe everything.
- Portability: Tap Send to GPS on any saved spot to export it as a standard GPX file.
- No request needed: There is no server-side data to delete or export.
If you have questions about this policy, contact support@4370.io.
6. Children
The App is rated 4+ and is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and replace the policy at the URL where it is hosted. Material changes may also be announced in App Store release notes.
8. Compliance notes
- GDPR / UK GDPR: Because we process no personal data on our own infrastructure, we are not a controller or processor for any user data.
- CCPA: We do not sell personal information. We have none to sell.
- Apple App Privacy "Nutrition Labels": Only Precise Location is declared as collected, with the link "Not Linked to You" and the purpose App Functionality only. No other data types apply.
- Apple Privacy Manifest (
PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy): declaresNSPrivacyTracking = false, no tracking domains, and required-reason API usage forUserDefaults(CA92.1) and file timestamps (C617.1).
9. Disclaimer (relevant to privacy)
The App displays projected coordinates derived from camera, compass, and GPS data. It is not a navigation aid. See the in-app disclaimer and the separate Terms of Use for the full liability statement.
